    High-temperature electric stator

    Get PDF
Thermal vacuum tests are conducted on high-temperature stator without a rotor. Electrical characteristics remained satisfactory during tests, insulation improved slightly, and conductor resistance remained constant. The assembly included a bore seal for hermetically sealing the stator from the rotor cavity

Documentation for the spatial analysis system (SPAN) for resource use by animals

    Get PDF
Nearest-neighbor analyses have been used with mapped data f or tests of spatial dispersion and association i n plant and animal ecology. This paper full describes a computer software package developed to use Monte Carlo trials instead of chi-squared distributions for assigning probabilities to observed values of nearest neighbor statistics. The program can factor-out the unique geometry of resources in a sample plot, which can affect locations of animals, thus testing for direct patterns among the animals independent of their resource patterns. The Kappa statistic for association is a1 o calculated a1though its application has met with limited success. A users manual and the Fortran program language is included. (80pp.

    Bimetallic junctions

    Get PDF
The formation of voids through interdiffusion in bimetallic welded structures exposed to high operating temperatures is inhibited by utilizing an alloy of the parent materials in the junction of the parent materials or by preannealing the junction at an ultrahigh temperature. These methods are also used to reduce the concentration gradient of a hardening agent

Braze alloys for high temperature service

    Get PDF
Two groups of refractory metal compositions have been developed that are very useful as high temperature brazing alloys for sealing between ceramic and metal parts. Each group consists of various compositions of three selected refractory metals which, when combined, have characteristics required of good braze alloys

A Study of One Method of Drill as Related to Test Scores on 160 Terms in Eleventh Grade American History at South High School

    Get PDF
This study, based on 160 questions of the Pressey Tests includes two numerically equal groups of pupils of eleventh grade American history. Pupils of one group are paired with those of the other group on the basis of the Otis Self-Administering Tests of Mental Ability, Higher Examination. The two groups are designated the experimental group and the control group . Both groups, covering the same material in American history, heard or read each of the 181 terms used in this study. The only known difference being that the experimental group was subjected to one method of drill on the terms, while the control group had no drill. The study attempts to answer the following question: To what extent does one method of drill affect the comparative population estimates of the two groups of test scores

Robust autoresonant excitation in the plasma beat-wave accelerator: a theoretical study

A modified version of the Plasma Beat-Wave Accelerator scheme is introduced and analyzed, which is based on autoresonant phase-locking of the nonlinear Langmuir wave to the slowly chirped beat frequency of the driving lasers via adiabatic passage through resonance. This new scheme is designed to overcome some of the well-known limitations of previous approaches, namely relativistic detuning and nonlinear modulation or other non-uniformity or non-stationarity in the driven Langmuir wave amplitude, and sensitivity to frequency mismatch due to measurement uncertainties and density fluctuations and inhomogeneities
